Following the news that a fee has been agreed with West Ham for Ayew, Swansea City are in talks with Atletico Madrid striker Borja Baston – according to Sky Sports News.

It was reported yesterday that Andre Ayew was set to join West Ham United, but only if the Swans can add a second striker signing, following Friday’s arrival of Sevilla forward Fernando Llorente.

Chairman Huw Jenkins has previously said this Summer that players needed to leave before they could bring new players in. With the club set to gain around £20m with the sale of Ayew, they can now progress with the likes of Borja Baston, who netted 18 goals last season during a loan spell at La Liga side Eibar.

The 23 year-old frontman would be an excellent choice to have alongside the more experienced Llorente, who has won the World Cup, Euro Championships, Europa League and Serie A.

Borja has struggled to gain regular first team football at Atletico, and has had 5 loan spells at different clubs in as many seasons. In 2014/15, he went to Zaragoza, and netted 22 goals in 39 games.

But despite his goalscoring form in recent seasons, Atletico Madrid have signed Sevilla’s Kevin Gameiro for £27m, and reports have said that the Spanish club have told Borja that he can leave to go in search of regular football.

Would he get that at Swansea? Well, he should do on the back of two excellent goalscoring seasons. But Llorente is also now at the Liberty, and manager Francesco Guidolin has preferred a 4-2-3-1 formation during pre-season, so it’ll be interesting to see how he keeps the pair happy if Swansea City can secure another excellent striker signing.
