Swansea needed extra time to beat Peterborough United in the Quarter-Final of the LDV Vans Trophy tonight at the Liberty Stadium.

Kenny Jackett made 7 changes to the side that drew with Colchester on the weekend. Kevin McLeod returned at left back after a fortnight out with injury. Robinson, Monk, Ricketts and Akinfenwa were the four players to keep their places in the side while MacDonald, Murphy and Connor were given first team chances to impress.

After a very boring first half that consisted of a glorious chance for our visitors to take the lead as Benjamin failed to hit the target after being put through on goal.

Kristian O?Leary was taken off on a stretcher after 15 minutes and was replaced by Owain Tudur-Jones.

Roberto Martinez replaced youngster Shaun MacDonald as we needed some experience and a vast improvement if we wanted to get through to the semi final.

Lee Trundle then came on for Paul Connor as we still were being hold by the league two side. He still failed to get on the score sheet but Akinfenwa and Robinson were on hand to take us through.

Paul Carden was then sent off a few minutes into extra time for two bookable offences, this looked as if this would boost Swansea?s chances of getting a goal but it was the Posh who scored the game?s first goal.

Danny Crow put Mark Wright?s side in front but their lead only lasted a minute as Akinfenwa scored an equaliser for the Swans. Five minutes later and Swansea were ahead as Robinson scored yet another goal ? and it seems as though the former Tranmere midfielder is getting us vital goals when we need them!

Akinfenwa then scored his second of the game and put the game beyond any doubt 19 minutes into extra time.

Although we didn?t find it as easy as the past two games, Swansea picked their game late on and managed to come through the game as comfortable winners but Peterborough did put up a strong fight against the league one leaders. We now await our next opponents as the draw will be made on Saturday morning.
