Brendan Rodgers says he needs three new signings to strengthen the squad ahead of the new Championship season.

The new Swansea City manager looks set to add Kemy Agustien to his squad who has been targeted to fill the role left behind by Leon Britton. He’s also looking for another 2 players, both attacking players – either wingers of strikers who can add competition for goals.

When asked about how many new signings he needed, he said:

‘Coming in and having a look, I think 3 [new signings].’

‘One of them forced on because of Leon [Britton] leaving.

‘I was a big admirer of Leon and thought he was terrific little player who knitted the game together.

So I felt that we needed someone in that position, hence the reason why we’re looking at Kemy [Agustien] , who’s a talented player and knows how we play in a 4-3-3.

‘On top of that, I want to bring in a bit more support to the front area of the field to make sure we’ve got competition for goals, both as a striker and as wide players.

‘Wide players need to contribute with goals and assists so those areas were important for me.

Other than that I felt there’s a real core as long as keep fit and we kept the players I want here.

‘I like to work with a small group, a tight group but importantly a group with quality and a mentality to win, I feel I have that here and with one or two more, we’ll be a strong group.’

Chelsea’s Scott Sinclair is one of Rodgers’ targets to add more attacking options to his squad, and chairman Huw Jenkins has confirmed that he has spoken to the Premiership club about the youngster. He’s now hoping to hold talks with the player after he returns from Germany, but we face strong competition from Blackpool who have been linked with a loan move for Sinclair.
