New Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers says his philosophy is to go into each game looking to win – and that starts Saturday when we face Hull City at the KC Stadium.

Rodgers’ ambition for every game differs from his predecessor Paulo Sousa. His main aim in each match was not to concede with little emphasis on attacking and scoring goals.

Swansea City fans will be happy to see that Rodgers is a much bigger fan of attacking football and is looking for his side to score more goals but to keep a strong discipline in defence.

Sousa’s style of play was frustrating to watch to say the least, and 37 League goals last season was the worst in the Championship.

Roberto Martinez implemented a superb style of football that was very enjoyable to watch, and despite some concerns in defence, we won a lot more games than we lost because of our strong attacking quality.

Brendan Rodgers is aiming to bring that style back, and despite predicting a tough opener at Hull City on Saturday, he aims to get off to winning ways:

‘There’s real positivity around me.

‘I tried to come in and create a one-club mentality straightaway, and there’s a real good feeling and ambience about the place.’

‘[Saturday] is going to be a really tough game. Our first 5 fixtures are tough games, but I’ve got a great group of players here who I know can go into any stadium in this country and perform and play well.

We go there [Hull City] with good expectations and a positive mindset.’

‘I enter every game to win,

‘The philosophy in terms of our football won’t change, we’ll continue to look to control and dominate games.’

‘I enjoy the arrogance that we play with, it’s a charisma to the team that plays well.’

We go into every game to win, that will always be the ambition. It’s easier said than done, you need to work, you need a little bit of luck and you need to play with intensity.

‘Hull, one of the relegated teams, is obviously a difficult ask but I’ve got great confidence in the group. ‘
