Rodgers Delighted To Sign WBA Striker Moore

Brendan Rodgers said he was delighted to sign West Bromwich Albion striker Luke Moore on a permanent move for an undisclosed fee.

The 24 year-old striker completed a medical and signed a two and a half year contract which keeps him at the club until 2013.

Rodgers has been looking to add a striker to his squad for a number of months as we’ve struggled to score goals recently – and he’s delighted that he has strengthened his side as they look to outperform their nearest rivals.

The teams around us I’m sure will strengthen in the transfer window and it was vital that we added to our squad with fresh talent. Luke Moore hasn’t had the best of spells at West Brom since a £3m move from Aston Villa, but he had a better one on loan at Derby County recently, scoring 4 goals in 9 League games.

Moore will be available to play in Saturday’s FA Cup third round home tie against Colchester United.

Rodgers compared Luke Moore to winger Scott Sinclair:

‘Luke comes to the club at a great age to fulfill the undoubted potential that everyone knows he has.

‘His pace, power and finishing ability will add another dimension to our game. He’s also got a great hunger for the game as he hasn’t quite fulfilled his potential yet.

‘He’s quite similar to Scott Sinclair in that he needs to find a home and play football on a regular basis.

‘I’ve known Luke since he was a Youth player at Aston Villa and watched him score many, many goals.

‘I know what I’m working with and I’m convinced he will grow with us over the next few years.

‘We are all looking forward to the start of what should be a great Swansea career.’
