Out-of-favour striker Gorka Pintado has joined Cypriot First division side AEK Larnaca on loan for the rest of the season.

The Spaniard has struggled for first team games under Brendan Rodgers and an injury at the start of the season has limited him to just 1 League appearance since August 2010.

He joined from CF Grenada in 2008 when Roberto Martinez was in charge, but he failed to live up to the hype – having been a fans’ favourite at his previous club.

The 32 year-old has scored 7 goals in 25 League starts, he also made 48 substitute appearances during his spell at the Liberty Stadium.

Pintado has only left on loan but he looks sure to leave Swansea City permanently at the end of the season.

Swans boss Brendan Rodgers said players had to leave before he could make new signings this month. David Cornell has joined Port Talbot on loan, while Shaun MacDonald has returned following another spell at Yeovil Town.

Jordi Lopez looks set to leave as he seeks regular first team football, while Cedric Van Der Gun and Shefki Kuqi could also be shown the exit door soon.
