Swansea City have confirmed to BBC Sport that they are in talks to sign West Bromwich Albion striker Luke Moore.

Swans boss Brendan Rodgers is looking to strengthen his strikeforce and 24 year-old Moore appears to be at the top of his targets list.

Moore joined West Brom in 2008 for a £3m fee but he has struggled to earn himself a regular starting place at the Hawthorns.

He has scored 5 goals in 28 League starts for West Brom but he enjoyed a better spell during a recent loan at Derby County, netting 4 goals in 9 League games.

Derby were keen to extend Moore’s stay but the striker decided to look at his options, as the Swans look to sign him permanently.

Rodgers told BBC Sport:

‘There has been contact between us and West Brom.’

‘The chairman has been working very hard with Dan Ashworth, their sporting director, so there is a lot of discussions going on,’

‘There is nothing finalised as of yet but he is obviously a player that I like. He has pace, power and the ability of score goals.

‘He is still young at 24 and he is in prime asset age but it is still ongoing. If we were to take Luke, the agreement would be a permanent move.’

Stoke City striker Eidur Gudjohnsen has also been linked with a loan move and while Rodgers didn’t rule him out as a target, he admitted signing the former Barcelona would be a ‘long shot’.
