According to reports in Spain, Michu is close to completing a move to Serie A side Napoli – who Swansea City faced in last season’s Europa League.

A Daily Mail reporter however claims that Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins has informed him that Michu is not having a medical at Napoli.

West Ham United were strongly linked with a move for the Spaniard, but they seemed an unlikely destination for the player who struggled last season with an on-going, long term ankle injury.

£6m was the reported fee when linked with a move to West Ham, but surely the Swans would hold out for at least an 8-figure sum for the club’s 2012/13 leading goalscorer.

Reports in Spain say that Michu has already passed a medical at Rafa Benitez’s Napoli, and he is expected to complete the move to the Italian club within the next few days.

The news of this apparent medical has only surfaced this evening, so we still don’t know how much truth there is in the story, but what appears to be almost certain is that Michu looks set to move on before the new seasons starts in August.

Rumours of this started way back in February 2014 when former manager Michael Laudrup was sacked and replaced by Garry Monk.

He made a handful of appearances for the new man in charge, but struggled to return to his previous goalscoring form – showing clear signs that his injury was still troubling him.

Some, or probably most of the media will assume that Michu’s sale can now be made following the confirmation of Gomis’ arrival. This may well be true as it appears that Michu is not in Monk’s plans for his 2014/15 squad.

If Michu does leave, then you wonder what lies ahead for fellow Spaniards Pozuelo and Canas, who seem to have fallen out with Monk having hardly played a game under him towards the end of last season.

One of them, possibly both, were rumoured to have caused the training ground ‘fight’ back in mid April.
