Leon Knight looks set to have played his last game for Swansea City after Kenny Jackett has placed him on the transfer list.

The Swans’ boss dropped our top scorer for the trip to Chesterfield last Saturday amid speculation that the striker had had a dressing room bust-up with a fellow team-member.

Kenny Jackett denied these claims by saying that he wasn’t punishing Knight by leaving him out of the 16-man squad, and says it was purely down to footballing reasons.

The Swans will be hoping to at least get back the £125,000 they paid Brighton for him back in January.

Jackett said his reasons for transfer-listing him was because he wasn’t working hard enough.

He said: ‘I think that Leon could have worked harder. There’s no single incident, but it’s best for Leon and the club that we let him go.

‘It’s disappointing because he’s a tremendously talented player with an outstanding goal-scoring record.

‘But he’s not a player with a future at Swansea. I don’t see him wearing the shirt again, a clean break is best for all.

‘I’m looking at the overall mix of players, how they interact and respond to each other.

Leon Knight denied the rumours about him fighting in the dressing room and said: ‘Kenny says I didn’t work hard enough and that I moan too much,’

‘We’re all entitled to our opinions, but I’d say that my goal-scoring record says different. I moan because I’m a winner and it means so much to me.

‘There have been all sorts of rumours in the media about fights in the dressing room, but I’m too old for all that. The players, fans and chairman have all been great here.

‘I’ll just have to keep fit and either get a loan move out or look for a permanent transfer in January.

‘I’ll be all right. I’m sure I’ll get another club and carry on scoring for them.’

With Akinfenwa injured for 3 weeks and Knight set to leave in January, we’re left with just 2 strikers. I’m a big fan of Leon Knight as in my opinion I think he’s the best finisher we have at the club. He’s top scorer with 7 goals so it’s a shame to see him go.

His reputation suggests he’s a disruptive influence to a squad of players, it was the same case at Brighton, where he was forced to leave.

Jackett’s list of players he’s fallen out with goes on with Knight joining the likes of Kevin McLeod and Steven Watt on the same list.
