Swansea City’s stand in captain Alan Tate has indicated that Roberto Martinez has a points tally in mind that will secure promotion.

The club in recent games have dropped 5 points in the quest for promotion with the shock 2-1 loss to Millwall and the 1-1 draw against Tranmere Rovers.

Kenny Jackett came back to haunt his former club, Martinez will be hoping Bayo Akinfenwa will not enact the same blow to the push for promotion. Northampton Town signed the striker after he was released from his short term contract at Millwall.

Points dropped at The Sixfields Stadium will give the chasing Doncaster Rovers and Carlisle United just 7 points adrift all the incentive they need to pill more pressure on Swansea City.

That has not worried Tate who is not looking back but has his sights firmly looking forward.

Tate Spoke to The SWEP

here’s no point looking at the league table. We know where we are and we know how many wins we’ve set ourselves as the target. You can throw the league table out of the window as far as we’re concerned because we know what we’ve got to do.It’s doable, put it that way, but that’s all I’m saying.’

If we?re going to be positive, it?s another point on our total and we?re still six clear with a game in hand over Doncaster and a game to play against Carlisle, so there’s no need to look over our shoulders.’

Swansea will face a tough challenge away at Northampton Town on Saturday as the club embark on a three game away schedule.
