Swansea City reserves will be looking to secure the first points in the newly renamed Totesportcasino.com Combination Cup on Wednesday against Bristol City.

It is not the first time this season the two sides have met at Port Talbot town’s GenQuip Stadium with the Swans and The Robins playing out a 1-1 draw on the 17th September. Midfielder Joe Allen gave Swansea the lead early in the second half after good work by Kristian O Leary on the flank. Battling with his marker O Leary found Allen unmarked 20 yards from goal who unleashed an unstoppable drive past a stranded Stephen Henderson in the Bristol goal.

With little under a minute into injury time Bristol scholar Ashley Kington broke Swansea hearts with a well executed strike to equalise for the Ashton Gate side. It was through an inspired John Akinde that Swansea would be undone at the back when the 19 year old’s cross went across the face of goal to find Kington unmarked who fired the ball past a helpless Pennock.

It denied Pascoe’s young side their first win of the league campaign but the Liberty Stadium side did not have to wait long for a long overdue win at home to Swindon last week.Matthew Wright’s 73rd minute headed goal separated the two sides. Swansea will be hoping to get their first points on the board in this seasons Combination Cup a loss however could put Swansea well adrift with only two games gone.

Pascoe could utilise the international break and give the likes of Federico Bessone, Andrea Orlandi, Guillem Bauza and Fabien Brandy a chance to secure vital match time. Whilst Artur Krysiak will be be given his second outing in a Swansea shirt since his arrival on loan from Birmingham City last month.

Former Swansea striker Lee Trundle could also feature for Bristol City .

Vital Swansea will be running a match update service as per usual.
