Swansea City can now resume their interest in Portsmouth defender Dusko Tosic after the FA blocked his initial move to the club.

As we reported here, Swansea City were close to signing the Serbian international but the FA blocked the move after he joined the Premiership club after the January transfer deadline day.

However, Tosic’s representatives say that they have received assurances that the transfer to the Liberty Stadium can now go ahead.

Swansea City can now offer the player a contract and hope he signs as the 25 year-old is looking for regular first team to boost his hopes of winning a place in Serbia’s World Cup Squad.

His agent has high ambitions for his client and he believes he should be playing in the Premier League. So if he does join the Swans, a stay beyond the end of this season looks unlikely unless we achieve promotion to the top flight.

Tosic can play at Left back or centre back and would add some much needed defensive cover as Garry Monk and Fede Bessone are currently sidelined.
