Reports in Italy are saying that Swansea City have accepted a 7.5m euro fee for striker Alberto Paloschi

Reports in Italy are saying that Swansea City have accepted a 7.5m euro fee for striker Alberto Paloschi.

If the reports are true, then the Swans are willing to lose out on around £2m on a striker they paid £8m for just 6 months ago.

Atalanta have also reportedly offered the player a staggering 6-year contract, and it’s now up the striker to decide on whether to make a return to native Italy.

With the Swans also losing a bit of money on striker Eder, following his switch to Lille this Summer, you have to wonder what their plan is in terms of strikers for next season.

Paloschi was never able to show too much quality in the little playing time he’s managed here, but you can’t deny that he always gave 100% effort and commitment. His desire and work-rate was always a pleasing aspect of his game, but our fans are desperate to see more of a natural goalscorer up front in our team.

In fairness to the 26 year-old, he was accurate in front of goal, with a 70% shot accuracy (10 total shots) in the Premier League, but only scoring 2 goals in 10 appearances.

It’ll be disappointing to see Paloschi leave, if he does decide to take the offer at Atalanta. You can’t blame him if he does leave, as you wonder if he’ll get regular first team football with the Swans if they’re willing to sell him after 6 months of buying him.

Have we got something bigger and better lined up? You’d have to think so, otherwise – what are we doing selling a striker? Unless it was Gomis, you’d understand the decision to offload him. He has also been linked with yet another move to the Middle East, but many of us are hoping that a move will finally happen.

If both strikers do leave, we’ll only have Ayew available up front. The club will then have their work cut out to boost our forward options ahead of next season.
