The Swansea City players returned to training today and more so than usual, fans were keen to see who showed up as a number of players have been linked with moves away this Summer following our relegation from the Premier League.

The first-day-back training video can be viewed below via the club’s official Youtube channel and it features the likes of Matt Grimes, Jordi Amat, Alfie Mawson, Jordan Ayew, Kyle Bartley, Wilfried Bony and Jay Fulton amongst others. These are players who were either out on loan last season or have been heavily linked with moves away.

Swansea City have also all-but-signed former Real Madrid left-back Jordi Govea, who’s now out of contract. The 19-year-old was spotted in the video above! He’s set to come into the under-23 setup but could earn a move to the senior team if he impresses there.

Another player who featured in the video was under-23s player of the season George Byers. Now, a lot of us have been wondering (and hoping) that the promising 22-year-old would sign a new contract this Summer having seen his current deal expire last month.

Nothing has been said by Swansea City Football Club in terms of George Byers situation. He was out of contract recently, I believe contracts tend to end at the end of June usually, but we’re into July now and nothing has been published regarding his contract status.

Can we assume that Byers has put pen to paper on a new deal and will look to earn a senior place next season? Surely, if he did the club would want us all to know!? Wouldn’t be like them to keep us in the dark now, would it!?

Another under-23s player whose future is somewhat up in the air is Oli McBurnie. I say under-23s but really he’s a senior player now having been involved last season, and he’ll most certainly be involved in Potter’s plans if he does ignore interest from SPL side Rangers and Championship outfit Leeds United.

He’s posted two or three cryptic, keep-the-fans-guessing tweets over the Summer. He’s now deleted his most recent one, which simply read: “Don’t believe everything you read.” And most of what you’ve read over the Summer about the Scottish international is him attracting interest elsewhere.

Some reports believe that McBurnie has opted to stay at Swansea and could sign a new deal, but we don’t know for sure yet.

Elsewhere, Bartley is rumoured to be keen on a move, with West Brom showing interest. Captain Federico Fernandez is wanted by Russian side Krasnodar but the Argentinian prefers a move to a Premier League club. It’s speculated that The Swans want to sell him to reduce the wage bill. Andre Ayew is heading to Besiktas on loan with the deal to be completed later this week.
