Brendan Rodgers says they owe the supporters after losing 4-0 at QPR on Boxing Day.

Swansea City now have the opportunity to repay the fans for their dedication in travelling to Loftus Road by getting back to winning ways when Barnsley visit the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday.

Rodgers insists there cannot be a ‘hangover’ after a heavy defeat against the league leaders.

“It`s the first time in a long time that we`ve lost two games in a row and we are much better than we showed here,”

“To lose the game as we did was disappointing. We conceded a poor first goal, and that was one of three we could have done better with.

“The last was an outstanding finish by Taarabt, who is a player with wonderful talent.

“It just wasn`t a good day for us in terms of the goals we gave away, but these players have done terrifically well for and we have to keep faith with them.

“I remember Blackpool going to Crystal Palace and losing 4-0 last season and things turned out pretty well for them, so that`s worth remembering.

“And I thought 4-0 was harsh on us. We made some very good early chances and things could have been different if we`d taken them.

“But it`s important now that we respond and get this result out of our system.

“We cannot let there be a hangover. I said to the players before the game that whatever the result. we have to go again against Barnsley.”

Rodgers also says they owe the supporters:

“I said to the players after the game that we owe the supporters after that,”

“The group are looking forward to going again and we want to give the supporters something against Barnsley, because they were brilliant again at QPR.”
