Swansea City’s out-of-favour midfielder Alejandro Pozuelo has joined Michu’s former club Rayo Vallecano for an undisclosed fee

Swansea City’s out-of-favour midfielder Alejandro Pozuelo has joined Michu’s former club Rayo Vallecano for an undisclosed fee.

The 22 year-old arrived with much promise and potential from Real Betis, but he struggled to make an impact under former boss Michael Laudrup and was mainly used in Cup competitions.

He soon went out of favour when Laudrup was replaced by current boss Garry Monk – and was strongly rumoured to have instigated the training ground fight – along with fellow Spaniard Jose Canas.

We questioned back in May here whether or not the duo were in Monk’s plans for the 2014/15, and unsurprisingly, they’re not. We wonder now where Jose Canas will go – likely back to Spain – but nothing has been mentioned about a future destination for the defensive midfielder.

Their absence from the recent USA Pre-Season Tour added to the exit rumours, but not only did they appear to be a bad influence behind the scenes, you have to question their commitment and desire – particularly Jose Canas who was far more involved in the first team than Pozuelo – he could have learnt a thing or two from fellow defensive midfielder Leon Britton.
