Swansea City goalkeeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt has spoken out about the lack of game time he’s having at the club, and is hoping for a loan move next season.

The Swede signed for £600,000 in 2015 from Heerenveen, but in that time he has only made 2 Premier League appearances – his most recent was in the final game of the 2016/17 season. He has made 6 other cup appearances.

He has hoped to have earned a starting place ahead of Lucasz Fabianski, but his error for West Brom’s goal last month was clearly evident that he’s nowhere near as reliable in the air at least than his Polish team-mate.

But he’s another player that we still don’t know of his true potential. A handful of appearances here and there aren’t enough to judge – and while he says that manager Paul Clement doesn’t want him to leave, he’s hoping for a loan move.

Nordfeldt said:

“Swansea have said that I am not for sale. If the coach continues to continue to play Fabianski then there is a small opening that I could get to go away on loan,”

“It has been difficult. Honestly, I think I should have had the chance given the way the team has performed and what I did when I played. but it is difficult when we have changed coaches so many times.

“But I have some understanding that you cannot change the goalkeeper when you have as much experience (as Fabianski).”

‘Clement does not want me to leave’

“I know that there is interest on the levels that I find interesting. I think they are mainly about loans,”

“Clement does not want me to leave. I am aware that the situation in Swansea is not optimal to be here in the national team. I think everyone is aware I played four or five games in the cups and the Premier League.

“The club understands that it is not enough, in that I have ambitions. I need to find a solution to it.

‘Clement happy with what he’s seen of me’

“I`m not active at all (in looking to leave), It has been quite erratic season where we secured safety just before the final whistle. I have put very little energy into it. My agent is aware of the situation and that I am not satisfied with my playing time.

“Swansea is a great club and if I had only been playing, I would have nothing to complain about.

“In my head, I`ll play next season. What little he (Paul Clement) has seen of me, he is very happy with, and he does not want me to leave.

“But he understands that I will not wait until the last day of the transfer window in order to know if he is investing in me.”
