Swansea City Garry Monk will welcome his team selection ‘headaches’ soon as he has healthy competition for places throughout the squad.

In defence, both Kyle Bartley and Jordi Amat both look excellent options to fill in for the injured Federico Fernandez alongside captain Ashley Williams.

In midfield, he has even more decisions to make. He has four wingers to pick from, as Modou Barrow continues to impress when he comes on to make brief substitutions appearances, as Nathan Dyer struggled to impose himself on the game after assisting Bony’s opener at Manchester City on Saturday.

Jefferson Montero looks like he might make the left wing spot his own for the near future at least, as Wayne Routledge still hasn’t recovered from his injury, though he should be fit for the upcoming home games. But even so, Montero looks a better option on the wide left.

In the centre of midfield, Monk can choose from the likes of Tom Carroll, Jonjo Shelvey, Leon Britton and Ki Sung Yueng, while Gylfi Sigurdsson and Wilfried Bony look very likely to continue their attacking partnership.

The only places that Monk is lacking in competition is at full back. Angel Rangel is doing a reliable job on the right, but Neil Taylor continues to struggle. He looked out of sorts at the Etihad Stadium, and failed to stop the cross for City’s equaliser.

Monk’s only other option in that position is youngster Stephen Kingsley, but he doesn’t look ready to step up to the senior squad. He’s recently returned from injury and will continue to play for the under-21s side.

With key team selection decisions to make for the upcoming home games against QPR and Crystal Palace respectively, what would your line-up be if you were Swansea City manager?

Should the likes of Kyle Bartley and Tom Carroll keep their places after solid performances against Manchester City? Or should Jordi Amat and Leon Britton be brought in?
