Once again, Swansea City’s star striker Wilfried Bony has told the media how happy he is at the club, and that he can now concentrate on his football after signing a new one-year contract extension.

Bony was recently quoted in the national media as saying that whilst he likes it in South Wales, he has Champions League aspirations. The national media like to speculate about his future, while the player himself appears level headed and content with life at the Liberty Stadium.

He admitted that he was close to joining Liverpool or Spurs in the Summer, but both clubs are experiencing a serious dip in form with both managers struggling to inspire winning performances to back the millions they’ve spent.

Both clubs, particularly Liverpool are struggling to make it anywhere near the top 6, and only after a win against ten-men Hull have Spurs made it in the top half of the Premier League table.

The Swans, meanwhile, are joint 6th with West Ham, and have some winnable home games coming up.

Bony said:

“I was really happy to sign a longer contract,”

“I have a great relationship with the club. I like the feeling within the club and also the direction I believe the club is heading.

“Signing an extended contract means I can just focus on Swansea and continue giving everything I have for this club.

“I enjoy it here – I have a good relationship with my team-mates, the coaches and our fans.”

Bony netted another goal on the weekend to increase his tally to 5 in 12 League starts so far this season.

“To score a goal was very pleasing for me. It was a great pass from Nathan and I had time to chest it down and volley past the keeper,”

“It was disappointing to lose though. We played well and we could have taken a point from the game.

“But we must take the positives from this for the games coming up at home against Crystal Palace and Queens Park Rangers.’

Swansea City manager Garry Monk has recently revealed that he will look for a temporary replacement for the striker in January as he could miss 5 games when he teams up with the Ivory Coast squad for the African Cup of Nations.
