The match officials have been announced for Saturday`s game at the Hawthorns, as Swansea City take on bottom side West Bromwich Albion.
I can`t say that it`s good news for us, as the referee for the game is Roger East. Never a referee that has proved to be consistent over the years, consistently awful maybe, but I suppose you could say that there`s worst referee`s out there.
Having said that, you might remember Roger East as being the referee who sent off the wrong player in a game involving Liverpool and Sunderland back in 2015. He sent off the wrong player, giving Wes Brown his marching orders instead of John O`Shea. Believe it or not, but he was given another chance to work as a referee in the Premier League the following month at the Liberty Stadium when we played Liverpool. That game ended in a narrow 1-0 defeat.
If we were to win on Saturday, it would be the first time ever in the Premier League that we`ve won away from home when Roger East has been in charge.
Referee: Roger East
Assistants: Simon Beck, Derek Eaton
Fourth official: David Coote
It`ll be the second time this season that Roger East has been in charge of a Swansea game, after our 1-0 loss at West Ham back in September 2017.
Premier League record when Roger East is referee:
Home:
P6 W4 D1 L1
Away:
P5 W0 D1 L4
Overall:
P11 W4 D2 L5
