Attendances at the Liberty Stadium have not significantly risen since Swansea City have gone on an unbeaten run that spans 13 matches.

Something Roberto Martinez is hoping that will improve as he rallies the fans to turn out in force as the end of the season looms large.Martinez will be hoping to see the Liberty Stadium packed to the rafters as seen when a crowd of 19,010 saw the thrilling 2-3 win over Leeds United on the 29th December. Whilst a season low of 10,135 saw the 2-1 win over Swindon Town on the 2nd October.

Overall the average for a league game at the Liberty Stadium is only 12,758 well short of the capacity and is only marginally more than the average attendance last term where the average was 12,720. Initiatives have been put in place by the club to encourage fans through the turnstiles the most successful being the £23 season tickets for children.

As wages in Wales are on average lower than the rest of the United Kingdom many fans are out priced as Season tickets and match day tickets are expensive for people on low incomes . Prices have remained low but should Swansea secure promotion prices will rise and will out price a lot of fans.

Martinez Told The Evening Post

‘A crowd of 12,500 is a bit disappointing,we have a fantastic following, and away from home the fans have been terrific this season. At home I believe we should be getting a full house every week.”

”It’s not just that we’re top of the league, it’s also the football we’ve been playing this season. I think the players deserve more.If we want to achieve our dream this season, we have nine cup finals to play at home from now on. It’s hard to believe we don’t get the whole club coming together and showing our best face in that situation.”

‘We want to show our best side as a club.We should show that we want to be successful and a full house for every game would do that.I understand that we are coming off the back of Christmas and that football is quite expensive these days. Maybe some of our fans are saving their money for the later stages of the campaign.”

‘But we shouldn’t take anything for granted. We need to give 100 per cent every game as a club if we want to achieve our goal.’

Martinez will be hoping for a bumper crowd as Walsall are the next visitors to the Liberty Stadium.
