Swansea Manager Roberto Martinez is taking nothing for granted despite seeing Swansea remain 10 points clear of 2nd placed Doncaster Rovers , after the 2-1 win over Oldham on the weekend.

The Spaniard has warned against getting carried away as The Liberty Stadium outfit notched up 60 points with 54 still to play for. Hungry and focused Martinez’s squad had to dig deep to earn 3 points against a resolute Oldham outfit.

The club have been in this situation before when they secured a play off final berth at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff 2 seasons back. Despite being a dominant force throughout the Season Swansea fans were left bitterly disappointed as Barnsley won a place in the Championship after a tense penalty shoot out. Fans were also left disappointed as Swansea failed to secure a play off spot last term as Blackpool scuppered any chance of a berth after a comprehensive 6-3 win over Swansea.

Not to go replicate the disappointment of Cardiff, Martinez has remained steadfast and focused on every game and has not gotten carried away regardless of the lofty position that he and the club find themselves in.

It is that focus that has seen Swansea being given all the plaudits by managers the length and breadth of the country, and has earned the tactician three manager of the month awards his latest gong was for the month of January.

Martinez Told The BBC

”It would a huge mistake to say that in February with 18 games remaining we’re already promoted. If we start to think we’re already up, we’ll get punished. But my players are hungry and focused.’

My players are experienced enough to know that should they lose their focus, football will can kick you in the teeth.Everyone at Swansea City is responsible and mature enough to take nothing for granted and we laugh when people say that we are already promoted. “

We are in a good position and 60 points is a good tally for this stage of the season but we still have to see the job through.’

Martinez can notch up another 3 points as they travel to The Alexandra Stadium to face Crewe on Saturday.
