Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup believes goalkeeper Michel Vorm is close to signing a new contract.

If the Dutchman does sign a new contract at the Liberty Stadium, then it’ll come as a huge boost as there are plenty of rumours linking him with a move to other Premier League sides, particularly Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool.

Vorm is in talks about a new three-year deal, and Laudrup seems confident that he will put pen to paper soon:

‘I haven’t seen the piece of paper, but from what I have heard Michel is close to signing,’

‘It’s important for the club that such an important player who is already here signs a new contract because it’s a boost for everybody.

‘It can stop some of the rumours that always start when a contract is running down.

‘Even though we are outside the transfer window there will be the rumours about players, especially if you are going into the last year of your contract.

‘It’s also important that the club show the players that their performances over the last couple of years have been recognised.

‘Michel is a very good goalkeeper for us with a lot of quality ? he has already shown that with his performances and the fact he is Holland’s No. 2. We are very happy with him.’
