Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup sounds confident that Michu will stay beyond the January transfer window, as speculation begins to grow about the Spaniard’s future at the club.

Inevitably, the joint top Premier League goalscorer will be linked with a number of interested clubs, but Laudrup believes that none of them will offer enough money to prize him away from the Liberty Stadium.

Laudrup told the media in a press conference today (Thursday) that Michu will stay because clubs won’t make bids near the £30m mark – double the amount they sold Joe Allen to Liverpool for.

‘I don’t want to let him go,’

‘Obviously the offer can be so big that you have to accept it.

‘But I really don’t think that they’re going to pay so much money for him.

‘We know what Liverpool paid for Joe Allen. Joe went to Liverpool and you know more or less what they paid for him.

‘If they have to pay double for Michu there are few clubs who could afford that.

‘A guy who scores many goals must be worth more so you make the figures.

‘I don’t think anyone will come with that money to be honest. He will stay.’

Michu staying beyond January will be key to Swansea City cementing a solid top 10 finish this season. That’s not to say that they couldn’t finish there without him, but he certainly would help the club finish a few places higher.

The Swans currently sit in joint 6th place at present, and there’s no reason why they can’t stay around there for the remainder of the campaign.
