An update on how we’re comparing this season compared to last season in the Premier League

Here on Vital Swansea we are running a Stats feature to keep an updated, game by game look at how we are comparing this season compared to last.

How do we compare in terms of points tally, goals scored, chances created, games won, clean sheets maintained, table position?

We’ve even gone into further detail to see how our possession and passing accuracy compares as those two have been a big part of our game in recent years.

You don’t need fancy line graphs though to know that we’re a far more attacking team this year under Michael Laudrup compared to last season when Brendan Rodgers was in charge.

Not only in terms of goals scored (9 more at this stage compared to last season), but also in the number of chances created in front of goal too. (122 vs 145)

A 9 points difference this year also means we’re a massive 7 places higher in the League.

While we might have kept 3 less clean sheets than the six we managed at this stage last year, our possession and passing accuracy aren’t quite as good either, but that just goes to show that those elements of play are nowhere near as important as Brendan Rodgers likes to point out.

We’re doing far more of what we need to do to win games – scoring goals and creating far more chances.
