Brendan Rodgers along with all the players praised Joe Allen in the dressing room after a man of the match performance at Crystal Palace yesterday.
The 20 year-old midfielder scores Swansea City’s last goal in the 3-0 victory and he received special praise from the manager and the players after the final whistle.
Rodgers said:
Joe got a round of applause from us all after the game,”
‘Considering he is still only 20 years of age, I thought he was fantastic against Leicester City last week and again today.
‘I had a bit of a go at him after the Peterborough (Carling Cup) game because I didn’t like his performance. It was a performance for himself.
‘But it’s important I tell him when he does well – and today he was fantastic. He proved again what a fantastic talent he is.”
Allen was delighted to get his second career goal, which he says was long overdue:
‘It’s been long overdue,”
‘My first goal was very memorable for obvious reasons.
‘It’s been a long wait in between which has been slightly disappointing, but hopefully this goal will give me extra confidence to get on the scoresheet a bit more often.”
‘To go anywhere in the Championship and win 3-0 says it all about this team and the performance we put on.”
