Swansea City suffered another 2-1 defeat against Dave Penney’s Doncaster side after losing at the Earth Stadium today.

Swansea stay top of the league – 2 points clear of Brentford but we face the team in 2nd on Boxing Day.

Izzy was missing from the line-up today for no known reason as Kevin Austin came in as his replacement, but he only lasted 11 minutes after being sent off for serious foul play, denying Guy of a clear chance on goal.

Connor also came in for the missing Akinfenwa while McLeod had to make do with a place on the bench after returning from a groin injury.

This gave the Swans a tough uphill task of getting a result and the sending off took effect within minutes as we went 1-0 down. Alan Tate conceded a penalty 5 minutes later and McIndoe scored from the penalty spot.

Despite the Swans having a disadvantage, they fought back well and Sam Ricketts scored his first league goal as Donny’s lead lasted just 8 minutes.

Roberto Martinez was booked during the game and will miss the game against Brentford on Boxing Day after picking up 5 yellow cards. Tate and Gueret also recieved yellows.

With a defender missing, a few players were forced to play out of position. Connor was at right midfield as Trundle played up front on his own while Britton was at right back.

Forbes coming on with 20 minutes to go enabled Britton to return to right midfield as Connor was replaced. Alan Tate then needed to come off 4 minutes later with an injury and McLeod was brought on.

Swansea competed well during the game and it looked as if the points were to be shared until the 84th minute, when Heffernan put Donny back in front.

We had 9 minutes to get an equaliser and Forbes went close but his shot was well saved by Budtz in goal. We were then unable to take advantage of our late corners.

Despite recieving the double from Rovers, we battled hard during the game and it was rather unlucky that we didn’t get anything out of the game.

We still have a healthy 2 point lead at the top but we have a number of players out for the tough game away at Brentford. Martinez, Austin and McLeod are suspended while Tate and Izzy could be out with injury as well as O’Leary who is sidelined for up to 6 weeks.
