Paul Clement says he’s optimistic that Swansea City’s form will change ahead of Saturday’s home game against Huddersfield Town.

The Swansea boss is already under some pressure after a poor start to the season that sees them just one point better off compared to this time last year when we had 4 points after 7 games.

During Thursday’s pre-match press conference, Clement spoke about there being small margins in the games his side have lost, which is why he believes his side can turn their form around.

“We feel optimistic that our form is going to change,”

“We are all in agreement that we need to start playing better, particularly at home.

“But I also think the fact that the margin of the losses we have had has been small is a positive sign.

“We haven`t played particularly well but the games have been very, very tight.

“If we can turn the corner in terms of the way we are performing, I am sure the results will follow. That is the feeling among the technical staff and also the players.

“If we were getting hammered in games it would be different. But the scorelines have been tight and we know we can play a lot better.

“When we do that, there`s no doubt in my mind that we will get better results.”

‘Better and better’

Clement added that he expects improvement as the season goes on having had to integrate more players into the squad than he expected:

“This is a team that`s going to get better and better as the season goes on,”

“We had more changes in the summer than I envisaged at the end of last season.

“We have brought in some players, like Renato (Sanches) and Wilfried (Bony), who did not play so regularly last season.

“Then we have four or five other new players. It`s going to take a bit of time to integrate them all and I expect an improvement in the team and in our performances as we go on.

“I am confident that we will be better in the second half of the season than the first, but it`s still important to pick up points now because we don`t want another situation like last year when we only had 12 points at the halfway stage.”
