Leon Britton has signed a new contract with the Swans keeping him at the club until 2008.

He’s been one of our best performers so far this season when it looked as if his Swans career was in the balance last summer.

He made 16 appearances in League Two last season and it looked as if he may be moving on but since signing a new deal back in pre-season, his consistent form has troubled our opposition and could well be one of the contenders for Player of the Year in May.

‘It’s all done and dusted now and we’re glad to get the first of many players sorted out,” said Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins.

Meanwhile, Bath press and our local press are reporting the total opposite about winger Andy Sandell. We reported yesterday that he was set to sign but the Evening Post today says the Swans have ”played down talk of an imminent move for Bath City winger Andy Sandell.”

Whereas the Western Daily Press’ headline today reads ”Sandell set for switch to Swansea” which reports that he could sign for us within the next fortnight.

Bath City boss Relish said: ‘We’ll be looking to meet with Swansea in the next week or so.

‘I’ve spoken to Kenny Jackett (Swansea manager) over the Christmas period and we’ve more or less agreed we’ll have a meeting between the clubs to thrash out something.

If Sandell does join us, Relish hopes the player would return to Bath on loan as part of the deal.
