Bolton Wanderers boss Phil Parkinson has admitted this week that, like Swansea City, his side are facing problems converting shots into goals as they aim to end a poor run of form at home against Graham Potter’s side at 3 pm on Saturday.

They’ve failed to score in 7 of their last 9 games and have just two wins in the last 12. In addition to that, they’ve managed 27 shots in the last two games but only 6 of them have hit the target. In comparison, the Swans have managed 37 shots on goal with 13 of them on target – scoring 3 goals in the process.

We appeared to be in confident mood after back-to-back wins at home against Blackburn and Reading but they missed a superb opportunity to make that three wins in three at Rotherham United as they came back late scoring two controversial penalties.

Failing to convert more chances and plenty of possession into goals was our major failing last weekend and Bolton are also suffering with the same issue but to a greater degree given their poor recent form.

A strong start saw Bolton in the play-off places after 5 games but a 3-0 defeat at home against Sheffield United saw the start of their sudden drop in form. That was their first defeat of the season in their fifth game, since then, they’ve lost another 7, with their last 3 all being defeats without a single goal being scored.

Parkinson said:

“In terms of putting the ball in the back of the net you’d have to say there is an issue.

“Villa, Hull, you can go back a whole list of games where we have had opportunities to score, and change the mood, and we just needed someone to take one. When we do, we will get going again, I have no doubt about it.

“Confidence is a big thing but we can only get it back by working hard. No-one is going to hand a goal to us on a plate.”

The Swans could be boosted with the return of striker Wilfried Bony as Graham Potter said that he could travel with the squad this weekend. Kyle Naughton could miss out though with an “ankle knock”. Tom Carroll and George Byers both returned to training this week. Bony could feature on the bench then but you get the feeling
