Swansea City winger has officially completed a permanent transfer to Championship side Reading

Swansea City winger has officially completed a permanent transfer to Championship side Reading – signing a 4-year contract.

The official site has confirmed that he has joined the Royals for an undisclosed fee.

Around a fortnight ago, Sky Sports reported that the fee was worth around £1.25m.

Barrow said:

“It`s an opportunity for me to join a good club that plays good football,’ said Barrow.

“The fans have been great with me, not just on the pitch but around the city as well.

“But at this stage of my career I felt I needed to be playing regular football. I hope I can do that by doing well at Reading.’

Reading boss Jaap Stam was pleased to add another player to his squad before the start of the new season:

“I`m very pleased to welcome Mo to Reading Football Club and I`m delighted that we have been able to add another player to our squad ahead of the start of the new season. Now all our focus is on the challenge that lies ahead on Saturday and our trip to QPR.”

Barrow was in and around the first team during the first half of last season, but his performance levels dropped, and he was quickly sent out on loan when Paul Clement arrived as manager in January.

His previous Championship loan spells – his most recent at Leeds United have been uninspiring to say the least but he’ll be hoping to prove his quality and settle at his new club.

Barrow’s obvious pace caught everybody’s eye when he first began playing for the Swans in the Premier League, but it was becoming obvious that other than pace, there was little else to his wage. Lacking a final ball quality, and showing difficulty in adjusting to teams who worked him out and double-marked him, Barrow struggled – and Clement soon realised that he needed to adopt a system that didn’t utilise wingers.
