The situation involving striker Bafetimbi Gomis looks set to get even worse if reports in the Daily Telegraph are to be believed.

The newspaper claims that Swansea City will have to pay the 29 year-old a £8m signing on fee if he leaves this month – as he continues to tell the media that he’d like a move away from the Liberty Stadium.

The Swans don’t look like they’re going to gain anything from the Frenchman, whether it’s his contribution on the pitch or profit in his sale.

He may be forced to stay as a result of the signing on fee, but as proven last Summer, Garry Monk doesn’t work with players that are 100% committed to the club.

The likes of Pozuelo, Canas and even Michu all left for a lack of committment to the cause last Summer, and it’s fair to say now that Gomis can be put in the same bracket.

Gomis is also on big wages too, thought to be around £50,000 and it looks like they’re on a lose-lose situation with him.

He spoke of broken promises, and his desire to play more games, but manager Garry Monk has said recently that Gomis is now his number 1 striker following Bony’s move to Manchester City.

“When Bony was here, it was planned I should play a certain number of games, that wasn`t the case,”

“Today, I ask myself many questions. I need time to think. I have been approached by clubs. I don`t know what will happen. Me leaving? It is possible.

“It is planned that my entourage will meet with Swansea`s representatives.

Then I will have a discussion with my representatives to find the best solution.

“I want to stay abroad. It is true that I have had not a bad amount of approaches from clubs.

I have the ambition to play a certain number of matches. I need time to reflect because what was said was not respected. At my age, it is difficult to spend my time sitting on the bench.”

You wonder where Gomis’ future lies now. It’s the second time that the player has spoken out about a possible move away. After the first time, it seemed that many fans gave him the benefit of the doubt, but after speaking to French TV above, Swansea fans are turning on the player who clearly doesn’t want to be here – and who can blame them?
