23 year-old Dutch midfielder Kemy Agustien has joined up with the Swansea City squad in Holland on trial.

The former Dutch under-21 international has undergone his first training session today and he could feature in our first friendly on Wednesday evening, as we take on VV Haaglandia (7.30pm).

The youngster has been hailed as a big prospect in Holland but injuries haven’t helped his progress so far, he told the Official Site:

‘I really enjoyed the first training session,”

‘The players have taken good care of me.

‘It helps that three of the squad are fellow Dutchmen. I’ve played against Dorus (de Vries), Cedric (van der Gun) and Ferrie (Bodde) in Holland and they are all good players.

‘They’ve told me all about Swansea and what a nice place it is to live. I remember playing at the Liberty Stadium with Birmingham. I liked it, especially the crowd, they were amazing and it stuck in my mind. As a player, that’s the type of crowd you want behind you.”

An injury didn’t help his spell at Birmingham City, as a £2.5million move fell through, but he’s now hoping to kick-start his career.

‘I know Swansea are one of the best footballing teams in the league,”

‘I’ve seen in training today the quality of the players here. There’s a good mix of nationalities and style with the Dutch and Spanish influence in there.

‘The manager is also a good trainer. I have spoken to him briefly and he wants to play quality football.

‘It’s something I want to do as well.”

Vital Swansea will be at all three games during the Holland Tour and we’ll report back on the performances including that of trialist Agustien, plus upload photos and videos during the week, (if I’m sober enough!)
