Sky Sports ‘understands’ that West Ham United, Wolves and West Brom are all tracking Swansea City defender Ashley Williams.

The 26 year-old has been a consistent and impressive former for the Swans and Wales and ever since he signed from Stockport County in 2007, he has continued to develop and improve.

The fact that he has broken the club’s record recently for the most consecutive appearances suggests how important he is to the Swansea City squad, and there’ll no surprises if we receive some Premiership interest for the centre back when the transfer window opens in the New Year. What has been a surprise though is that we’ve yet to receive any confirmed bids for the player during his time at the Liberty Stadium.

Williams has also captained Wales due to the absence of skipper Craig Bellamy and he is also expected to wear the armband for the Swans on Saturday at Doncaster Rovers, as both Garry Monk and Alan Tate miss the game.
