John Ward said he and his side learned a lot after they lost 4-0 to Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium this afternoon.

The Colchester United manager praised Rodgers’ team, saying they were ‘the best he’s seen in a long time’.

The League One side did well early on to limit our chances for the first 25 minutes, but after Monk’s opener, Swansea City went on to control the game and score 3 more goals for a comfortable 4-0 victory.

Ward said:

“They are the best team I have seen for a long time,”

“There is a lot for us to take away from this experience. I`m glad we beat Bradford and Swindon Supermarine to get to the third round because it was better to come here and get beaten and learn something than be sitting at home today doing nothing.

“We`ve been beaten by a far superior side today, a side that have realistic ambitions of getting into the Premier League.

“I like the way Brendan (Rodgers) has got Swansea playing though and now when I give the ball to my players in training on Monday morning and tell them to pass it they`ll know why.”
