Match Overview & Stats
Swansea City go into today’s game at relegation-threatened Newcastle United under no pressure – something that you would never have predicted a few months ago when the Swans were only a point ahead of the Magpies.

But now, the Swans have hit the 40 points mark and are a massive 15 points ahead of a side now managed by Rafa Benitez – the man Guidolin says if he can’t save them – no one can.

A win today would see us go past our lowest points total in a Premier League season – when we picked up just 42 points when Monk replaced Laudrup in 2014. A target that Guidolin has in mind.

That would be some achievement considering where we were at the turn of the year.

It’s a must win game for Newcastle only today, but three points won’t be enough to get them out of the bottom 3 as they’re 6 adrift of 17th placed Norwich City.

Jonjo Shelvey faces his former club too, having made a £12m switch to the Magpies in January. A sale that was criticised by some at the time, but the Swans have now been proved right to cash in on the midfielder.
