Swansea City suffered a 2-0 loss at Manchester United as Jose Mourinho hailed his team’s first-half performance as ‘perfect’.

Romelu Lukaku netted his 100th Premier League goal after just 5 minutes to open the scoring for the Red Devils, before Sanchez doubled their lead just 15 minutes later.

United should have added to their lead before the break with the Swans fortunate to only be 2 goals adrift at halftime. The Swans stepped up their game following the restart and benefitted by the double-substitution of Abraham and Carroll who finally got us into some action around the box, as de Gea pulled off a couple of decent saves to keep a clean sheet.

Mourinho said:

‘First half they didn’t cross the midfield line, didn’t have one shot. We pressed so high and strong, and then recovered the ball.

He went on to wax lyrical about their passing and the dangers they posed.

He does at least give The Swans credit for our fightback in the second half.

“I think, first of all, credit to Carlos because he improved the team at half-time. But I think we let it go a bit.”

The defeat, which lets be honest, was expected really given our recent struggles on the road and United’s home form, didn’t really damage our fight for survival too much. The likes of Palace, Southampton, West Brom and Huddersfield all lost, so there’s still a 3-point gap from the bottom three, plus we have a game in hand to play on some teams around us.
