Kevin Nugent praised his side after drawing 2-2 with Doncaster at the Earth Stadium yesterday.

Nugent is temporarily in charge following Jackett’s departure and he said: ‘It’s been a very difficult time emotionally for the players, but they showed great mental strength and character.

‘There were some exceptional individual performances, but overall it was a terrific team effort.’

‘It was probably a case of two points dropped after being in front twice, but I couldn’t really be disappointed with any aspect of the performance.

‘Sometimes in adversity players come together a little bit more and I thought we produced a really spirited performance which I hope we can carry forward into the next game.’

O’Driscoll says Monday’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy game may have been to blame for his side’s slow start, he said: ‘We didn’t turn up for the first 20 minutes and I think Monday night’s game was still in the back of our minds.

‘Swansea were a threat throughout and I thought they deserved to be two or three goals up at the break.

‘We just didn’t get going and seemed to give the ball away every time it came in to our possession.

‘We got better as the game went on and although I might have settled for a point after the first 20 minutes I was a bit disappointed we didn’t go on to win the game the way we played in the second half.’
