Swansea City have received a welcome boost ahead of the weekend with the news that full back duo Kyle Naughton and Martin Olsson are both fit again to feature in Sunday’s crucial home game against Middlesbrough.

Swans boss Paul Clement suddenly saw his injuries mount up after the tough defeat at Hull City a few weeks ago – as Angel Rangel – replacing the injured Kyle Naughton – suffered a broken metatarsal, while Fernando Llorente suffered from a dead leg – but managed to recover in time for the next game. Martin Olsson also picked up an injury which forced Clement into making some difficult decisions on who to play at full back at Bournemouth.

In the end, he went with Leroy Fer at right back and Stephen Kingsley on the opposite side, but despite Fer’s good adaption in a new position, his strength and drive was missed in midfield.

Fortunately, the defensive duo are confirmed as fit and ready for Sunday’s game, Clement told the media during Thursday’s press conference:

“Olsson and Naughton are now fit and we are in good shape. They are ready to start, they have trained very well, looked fit, strong and hungry.

“We have missed them because of how we have played; they have been influential and we are very happy they are back.”

It looks like the Swans can revert back to the tried and tested starting eleven against Middlesbrough that got us some wins earlier on during Clement’s tenure. Fer will return in midfield to join Carroll and Cork, with Naughton and Olsson back joining Fernandez and Mawson in defence. Clement will decide on whether to start Routledge or Narsingh as part of a front three that will most definitely include Sigurdsson and Llorente.
