Swansea City are likely to miss out on the battle to sign Northern Ireland star Niall McGinn as Celtic are thought to have offered a healthy bid for the midfielder.

The Swans had a £125,000 bid rejected recently by Derry City, a fee that doesn’t come close to their valuation of the 21 year-old.

However, Celtic are believed to have tabled a much stronger bid, thought to be around £300,000, and a move to the Scottish Premier League champions is looking likely.

It’s all speculation at the moment but the Swans will find it difficult to compete with Celtic, who can provide McGinn with Champions League football next year.
