Swansea City have completed the signing of Wrexham right back Curtis Obeng, for a undisclosed fee thought to be around £200,000.

As part of the deal, youngster Daniel Alfei has joined the fellow Welsh club on loan until the end of the season.

Wrexham player-manager Andy Morrell said:

‘It was difficult really because we’re in non-league football and as much as we want to do well and win promotion, opportunities like this don’t come along every day.

‘I didn’t feel that I was in a position to stand in his way for this. I could have stopped him going to other places, but to the Premiership? I don’t think so.

‘We have turned down bids for other players from other clubs but this was one where I felt it would be unfair on the player.

‘The Premiership is the promised land and players don’t get many opportunities at it.’

Morrell also said he was delighted to sign Alfei:

‘We’ve had a lot of good reports about Alfie and we were delighted to able to bring him in as part of the deal.

‘With the enforced break we’ve got it’s an ideal chance for him to be integrated into the team’s style of play ahead of the final promotion push.’
