Swansea have made their first signing of the January window by taking Southampton winger Nathan Dyer on loan until the end of the season.

The 21 year old is a product of the Southampton youth system and has made 53 first team appearances for the Saints.

He has spent the last three months on loan at Championship rivals Sheffield United, but found chances to impress limited.

Roberto Martinez made clear his intentions to add a winger to his squad, and Dyer’s ability to play on either flank will be a big asset for the Swans.

Dyer will be available to make his debut in the FA Cup Third Round against Histon tomorrow.

“Nathan Dyer sounds like the type of player that will need patience from our fans to thrive. Never our strong point, especially the Boo Boys. Lets hope he wins them over quickly!”
