Swansea City have signed 22 year-old Burnley defender David Edgar on loan for the rest of the season.

Edgar has struggled to earn himself a regular place in the team at Turf Moor since his move there from Newcastle United at the beginning of the season.

The defender has signed in time to be included in tonight’s team away at Blackpool and has been named on the substitutes bench.

Burnley boss Brian Laws believes it’s a great opportunity for him:

‘I think it’s a great chance for David to get some games because he’s obviously frustrated,’

‘He wants to be in the team just as much as anybody else.

‘I can’t fit him in at this moment in time, but David is very much in our thoughts and I think getting him first-team games with Swansea, who are playing really good football and in a position where they are winning consistently, is a fantastic opportunity.

‘I think it’s a win-win situation we can only benefit from it and so will David.

‘We will be keeping close tabs on him and will be going to watch him tonight in the game at Blackpool.’
