Swansea City are still on the lookout for defenders according to Sky Sports as they believe that the club have launched a bid for Blackpool’s Alex Baptiste.

Michael Laudrup has signed two defenders so far this Summer, bringing in Chico Flores from Genoa and youngster Kyle Bartley from Arsenal.

Baptiste has proved to be a key player for the Seasiders since his move there from Mansfield Town in 2008, and it’s no surprise that the Swans face plenty of competition to sign the 26 year-old.

It’s not been mentioned in the media, but the Swans could have an advantage in their attempts to sign Baptiste as Blackpool boss Ian Holloway is very interested in signing Stephen Dobbie, but the asking price appears to be too much for the Championship outfit.

Baptiste, whose contract expires next Summer, has previous experience of the Premier League with Blackpool in 2010/11. He narrowly missed the chance to return to the top flight with the Seasiders last season as they were defeated by West Ham United 2-1 in the Play-off Final.

Last season Baptiste made 49 appearances for Blackpool in all competitions, scoring 1 goal and picking up just 4 yellow cards.
