Stadium Sponsorship costs not exact?

I think we were all dissapointed with the cost of the naming rights deal totalling £500,000, but this might not be the exact price.

The Evening Post reports today that the stadium bosses are refusing to reveal the exact price they sold the naming rights for to Liberty Properties plc.

Instead they have given a ‘ballpark figure’ of around £500,000.

The local radio said that Communications Direct, another company in the running to seal the naming rights, offered in excess of £1,000,000 over 10 years but Councillor Clement said Liberty offered the most cash.

”It was the best net offer. It was an initial bid of five years, We expect the five years to become 10 years.”

The press conference also confirmed that Stadco are hoping to sponsor other elements of the stadium. ”We are still talking to interested parties,” said Councillor Clement.

Mr Morris added: ”Our sponsorship is for the naming of the stadium and does not impinge on the stadium seeking other sponsors.”

Liberty’s deal will last for 5 years but it is expected to be doubled. Council leader Chris Holley said a five-year-deal was the right one for the stadium because its value might increase and StadCo could get a better deal in the future.
