Swansea City will have some Spanish flair in attack next season. Guillem Bauza Mayol has signed on a free transfer from Barcelona based Liga 2 side Espanyol B.

Mayol has agreed a 1 year deal with the club.

Swansea City Manager Roberto Martinez on the Official Site:

He is excited about joining Swansea City.

We are excited about having him in our squad. He has a fantastic pedigree at all levels in Spain, especially playing in the Under-20 World Cup, and is a great prospect.

He’s a different striker to the ones we’ve got. He’s tall, good in the air and a good link man. He plays deeper than an out-and-out striker and creates a lot of chances for people. In fact, his assist record is fantastic.”

Mayol has also experience of playing with top flight stars such as Fernando Torres.

Martinez will be looking to strengthen the Squad further and has hinted that more Spanish blood will be arriving in Swansea.

Roberto Martinez told the South Wales Evening Post:

“There a couple more players I’m looking to bring over from Spain and, hopefully, they will be finalised in the next six to 10 days”

Martinez certainly was true to his word about getting players from Spain. Mayol should give us the decisive play maker that we have been lacking in recent seasons.
