Scott Sinclair says he was disappointed to miss a late chance during Monday’s 2-1 defeat at Leicester City.

The skilful winger fired in a superb equaliser from 25 yards after 12 minutes but Darius Vassell scored the winner shortly before half time.

Brendan Rodgers was pleased with the performance but disappointed not to get anything out of the game, while Sinclair left the Walkers Stadium ruing a late miss.

‘We were all disappointed,’

‘We should have never have lost the game.

‘If I’d scored the last chance I had it may have been different ? but I missed it and we lost the game.

‘I was happy with my goal, but I’m disappointed because we didn’t come away with a result.

‘We should have had at least a point.’

Rodgers praised Sinclair’s goal:

‘You will do well to see a better goal than that in the division this week,’

‘It was a great, great strike. We switched the play from one area of the field to another.

‘Scott combined nicely with Darren Pratley and the finish was fantastic.

‘He will always want to score goals ? that’s why I brought him to the club.

‘The second chance was a good ball by Darren and Scott took a good first touch, but the keeper did really well to come off his line so quickly.

‘The only finish Scott could try was the toe poke ? he did exactly the right thing. Unfortunately, the ball just went wide.’
