Brendan Rodgers has so far been impressed with trialist Kemy Aguestien, as the Dutch midfielder aims to earn himself a contract with the club.

He hasn’t taken long to impress, he looks strong and comfortable on the ball and he scored one of the 9 goals in our 9-1 win against VC Sparta last night – curling a superb shot into the top right corner.

Rodgers said:

‘He has got attributes that can take him to the highest level in England,’

‘He is mobile, he gets about the pitch well, he is strong and he is a good player with the ball at his feet.

‘He has everything we would look for in terms of the type of player who could play for Swansea.

‘Technically he is strong, tactically he understands the game and physically he can deal with the game in England. How he is mentally is what we are finding out.’

It’s not just about getting good players, it’s about getting the right players,’ Rodgers pointed out.

‘But Kemy has impressed me and the rest of the coaching staff, and he has mixed in well with the players.

‘You can see he is a talent and the good thing is that he understands the way we play.’

Aguestien said:

‘The guys have taken me in like one of their players and I have enjoyed being with Swansea.

‘I enjoy the way they play and I enjoy the players and the staff, so hopefully I can stay longer than just this week.’

‘I would like to come back to English football,’

‘Playing for Birmingham was a great experience, although I had two operations on my groin so that was not good.

‘I was disappointed when I didn’t sign permanently for Birmingham. I think the Premier League would have been more suited to my game because the Championship is more power, power, power.

‘But that’s why I like Swansea, because they try to play football. I think if they gave me a chance, I would take it with both hands.’

It looks very likely that he’ll be offered a contract and after watching him during the Holland Tour so far, he’ll be a welcome addition to the squad for the new season.
