Rodgers Isn’t Going To Let Stars Leave In January

Brendan Rodgers is very confident that Swansea will hold on to their Premier League stars when the January transfer window opens.

There has been a number of outstanding performances from Swansea City individuals since the start of their Premier League Campaign, notably, those of Nathan Dyer, Scott Sinclair and Joe Allen and it hasn’t gone un-noticed from some of Swansea’s Premier League rivals.

Rodgers himself, who has tipped Sinclair, Dyer and Graham to get England call-ups isn’t worrid about the possiblity of losing some of his stars come the January transfer window:

‘I have no concern whatsoever,’ said the Swansea boss.

‘A lot of these players, like Leon who has left the club and come back, recognise that this is a unique club.

‘Unless they’re going to go to a club that’s going to be in and around the Champions League, with all due respect, why would they want to leave here?

‘The team has shown that we are going to be competitive at this level.

‘I’ve spoken to some of the players and they might be able to leave here because of their qualities and earn a bit more money somewhere else.

‘But if you’re on a good wage now and you’re in a team that plays like we play, then that counts for a lot.

‘A lot of players understand the uniqueness of what we’ve got here.

‘We’ve got a lot of these players signed up and we’re looking to move forwards.’

Joe Allen appears to be high on the scouting radar after putting in a string of impressive performances which has bagged himself two Premier League goals and standing out at Anfield during the Swans’ last outing. However, Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Joe Allen will not be available come the January spending frenzy:

‘I don’t know if there will be offers, but Joe will certainly not be available, that’s for sure,’ added Rodgers.

‘I’ve made it clear that in the next couple of years Joe is going to be a top player.

‘But for him and his development at this stage of his career, he will not get a better place to learn the game and play in a structure that suits his qualities, than here.

‘He’s in a good place at the moment.

‘We want to keep this group together and add strength, which will be important. There’s no need for Joe to go anywhere else.’
