Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers says he’s going to give Tom Butler a chance at Swansea City having not seen him in action before today’s friendly match at Neath.

The Swans squad was split today for two local friendly matches, they started with a 1-0 loss at Neath but they won 3-1 at Port Talbot, thanks to goals from Craig Beattie, Angel Rangel and Kurtis March.

Rodgers was pleased with the exercises, and says he’s going to give Butler a chance at the club, as the midfielder looks set to sign a new 1-year deal at the Liberty Stadium:

‘It was a good exercise,”

‘The scorelines aren’t the important factors in this.

‘The boys have had a tough week with double sessions most days, but they’ve worked well.

‘I enjoyed both games, which have been well supported, and it’s important that both Neath and Port Talbot feel part of what we are doing at Swansea.”

‘I haven’t seen Tom play a great deal because he was injured for most of last season,”

‘He is one of only a few players in the squad who has played in the Premier League before and it is only fair that he has his chance.”
